The college was founded in by Queen Elizabeth I as "the mother of a university" that was modelled after the collegiate universities of Oxford and Cambridge , but unlike these affiliated institutions, only one college was ever established; as such, the designations "Trinity College" and " University of Dublin " are usually synonymous for practical purposes. Originally, Trinity was established outside the city walls of Dublin in the buildings of the outlawed Catholic Augustinian Priory of All Hallows. Course Description This course, the first Masters course in creative writing in an Irish university, was offered by the School of English for the first time in The M. It involves the close and critical examination of the student's work in group workshops and under guided personal tuition, with the study also of the professional techniques of book editing and publishing, and the opportunity to explore the cultural and literary contexts of writing in Ireland. Students are required to take workshops, attend courses of lectures, and take one specialist writing workshop, while continuing to develop their own individual work throughout the year.
