Students manipulate, graph, and model with two-variable linear equations and inequalities, are introduced to inverse functions, and continue studying linear systems of equations and inequalities. In Unit 4, Linear Equations, Inequalities, and Systems, students become proficient at manipulating, identifying features, graphing, and modeling with two-variable linear equations and inequalities. Students are introduced to inverse functions and formalize their understanding on linear systems of equations and inequalities to model and analyze contextual situations.

I also use this time to correct and record the previous day's Homework. This lesson is a scaffolding measure to prepare my students for future lessons. The goal is to use systems to model real life situations Math Practice 4. We will come back to this repeated throughout the year. I begin this lesson with a guided practice problem to get my students thinking about modeling situations with systems.
In this module students analyze and explain precisely the process of solving an equation. Through repeated reasoning, students develop fluency in writing, interpreting, and translating between various forms of linear equations and inequalities and make conjectures about the form that a linear equation might take in a solution to a problem. They reason abstractly and quantitatively by choosing and interpreting units in the context of creating equations in two variables to represent relationships between quantities. They master the solution of linear equations and apply related solution techniques and the properties of exponents to the creation and solution of simple exponential equations.
